This wedding at Ivory Foundry in Indianapolis was one of those days that just felt good from the start. The kind where everyone is calm, excited and clearly ready to have a great time. Even with absolutely brutal winter temperatures outside, the energy inside was warm and relaxed.
We started the day with getting ready photos for both the bride and groom. I always love documenting this part of the day because it sets the tone. Quiet moments, nervous excitement, a lot of laughter and those deep breaths before everything really begins. Being able to photograph both sides of the morning in one space made it easy to move naturally through the day without rushing.
Since it was painfully cold outside, all portraits and formals were taken inside the venue. Honestly, it worked out perfectly. We used the bridal suite and ceremony space to create a variety of images that still felt intentional and polished. The couple trusted the process and leaned into it, which always makes the biggest difference. When couples are present and relaxed, the photos follow.
The florals were stunning and added so much depth and softness to the space. Knowing they were designed by the venue owner’s wife made it even cooler. They photographed beautifully and brought a lot of personality into the day without overpowering it.
One of my favorite things about this wedding was how much fun everyone was having. The owner of the venue also served as the DJ and was incredibly easy to work with, which made the reception flow effortlessly. The dance floor stayed full, the laughter was constant and the night felt celebratory in the best way.
This was a wedding that felt true to the couple. Elegant without being stiff, joyful without being chaotic and full of genuine moments. These are the days I love photographing most.
As an Indianapolis wedding photographer, days like this are a reminder that great photos come from connection, trust and letting yourselves be exactly who you are.
