This wedding took place at VisionLofts at the Stutz in Indianapolis and it felt cool from the jump. VisionLofts sits inside the historic Stutz building, a landmark that dates back to the early 1900s when it was home to the Stutz Motor Company. The building still carries that industrial backbone. Brick, steel, concrete, and wide open spaces mixed with modern updates and smart design. It’s one of those places that feels very Indianapolis.
The couple were super chill and easy going and their wedding reflected that. Relaxed, confident, and a little alternative. The bride wore a blush pink vintage dress that looked like it stepped straight out of the 80s. It fit her perfectly and set the tone right away. The groom kicked off the day with getting ready photos at a bar next door, playing pool with his groomsmen. Casual, fun, and exactly what he wanted. The bride wasn't as interested in the getting ready photos which was a nice change of pace.
Their ceremony took place outside between two of the historic buildings. The industrial setting created such a striking backdrop and the vibrant florals they chose brought so much life into the space. It was a sunny day, so holding the ceremony under the gangway that connects the buildings was a smart move. The shade kept everyone comfortable and the light was perfect for photos.
After the ceremony we moved around the Stutz for portraits. There are endless corners, textures, and lines to work with, which made formals feel more like exploring than posing. We also took a short walk to the canal which added a totally different feel to the gallery. Urban, open, and classic Indianapolis all in one stretch.
The reception was full of energy. Guests moved easily between the indoor and outdoor spaces which kept the night flowing. Dancing, conversations, laughter everywhere you turned. It felt festive and loose and like a true celebration rather than a rigid schedule.
To top it all off, the couple ended the night with one of their favorite Indianapolis treats, Nicey Treat. A perfect local touch and a great way to close out the night.
Weddings like this are such a joy to photograph. As an Indianapolis wedding photographer, getting to capture couples who fully embrace who they are and celebrate in a way that feels natural to them is always the goal. This day had so much personality and I loved every minute of it.
