This engagement session started at Quills Coffee in Indianapolis Indiana and it couldn’t have felt more personal. This is one of their regular spots and it also happens to be where he proposed. That alone sets the tone. Comfortable, familiar, meaningful. When couples choose locations that actually matter to them, everything feels more relaxed right out of the gate.
They were happy go lucky from the moment we walked in. Big smiles, easy laughter. We moved through the space naturally. Ordering drinks, leaning into each other. Movement always wins. It takes the pressure off and lets people just be themselves. That’s when the real stuff shows up.
After Quills we headed over to Bottleworks in Indianapolis to switch things up a bit. The contrast worked so well. More structure, more lines, more visual interest. Her dress absolutely stole the show here. It had a very art deco feel and fit the space perfectly. Clean, bold, and stylish without feeling overdone. Watching her walk through Bottleworks felt like the location and the outfit were in on the plan together.
As the session went on they warmed up even more. You could see them forget about the camera and just enjoy being together. Those are always my favorite moments. The in between stuff. The quick glances, the laughter that sneaks up on you, the way they naturally fall into step with each other.
Engagement sessions like this are exactly why I love what I do as an Indianapolis wedding photographer. They’re not about posing or perfection. They’re about connection and trust and letting a couple show up as they are. After spending the evening with these two, I already know their wedding day is going to be something special. I can’t wait to work with them again and keep telling their story.
