This engagement session took place at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis Indiana and it was one of those days that just felt easy. The couple showed up smiling, laughing, and ready to roll. Very happy go lucky energy from the start. No overthinking, no pressure, just two people excited to be together and willing to trust the process.
Fort Harrison is such a solid spot for engagement photos. Open fields, tall trees, winding paths, and just enough variety to keep things interesting without having to move far. It feels natural and a little wild in the best way. We bounced around the park and let the scenery do its thing while focusing on how they moved together.
They told me early on they didn’t want anything stiff or overly posed. Perfect. We leaned hard into movement. Walking, spinning, laughing, bumping into each other, fixing hair blown into faces. That kind of movement brings out real expressions and lets personalities show up without forcing anything. It’s always more fun and the photos feel honest.
The whole session had major 90s film vibes. Soft light, relaxed energy, a little grainy in the best way. The kind of look that feels timeless without trying too hard. They warmed up quickly and you could see them settle into it as we went. By the end it felt less like a photo session and more like hanging out with a camera tagging along.
Sessions like this are exactly why I love engagement shoots. They’re low pressure, playful, and a great way to build trust before the wedding day. After spending the evening with these two, I already know their wedding is going to be a blast. I can’t wait to photograph it and keep telling their story.
