This couples session took place in Indianapolis Indiana and it centered around a front porch and a big milestone. They had just purchased their first home and wanted photos to mark that moment. Simple, personal, and very them. It was also my first homeowner photo session and it ended up being such a fun one.


We kept it short and sweet with a quick thirty minute session. We started on the porch with champagne, soaking in the fact that this place was officially theirs. Laughing, clinking glasses. From there we wandered down their street and grabbed a few shots in the side yard.


Their house faces west, which made things a little tricky toward the end as the sun dropped fast and the was very direct and hard. We adjusted, moved quickly, and made it work. Sometimes that push at the end creates the most natural moments because no one has time to overthink.


They were warm, relaxed, and clearly proud of what they’d built together.


We wrapped things up by bringing out their dogs who were not impressed by the situation at all. Zero patience, lots of personality. It felt like the perfect way to end the session.


This shoot was a reminder that meaningful photos don’t need a big production. Sometimes all you need is something to celebrate, a little flexibility, and a place that actually matters.
