This wedding at Conner Prairie in Fishers Indiana was a perfect mix of heartfelt moments and easygoing fun. The weather was overcast but comfortable, which for Indiana can feel like a blessing. It created this soft even light that made every photo feel natural and real.
One of the most touching parts of the day was the bride’s first look with her dad. It was emotional without being theatrical. Just real love, a few tears, and a moment that will stick with me as a wedding photographer. Moments like that remind you why you do this job.
Conner Prairie is known as a historic destination and living history museum, with over 800 acres of scenic grounds and unique spaces for weddings. It offers a variety of picturesque locations whether you want outdoor backdrops or indoor photography options. The venue has multiple areas couples can choose from for ceremonies and receptions, and all of it creates beautiful wedding photography opportunities across the property.
The ceremony itself was simple, meaningful and full of emotion. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple exchanged vows that felt personal and sincere. There were quiet laughs, happy tears and that collective moment where everyone realizes this is actually happening. The overcast sky gave the ceremony a soft, calm feel and kept everyone comfortable, which made it easy to stay present and soak it all in.
After the ceremony we didn’t have much time for traditional photos, so the venue’s golf cart made life easy. Because Conner Prairie’s outdoor areas are so expansive, the golf cart helped us move quickly between spots without feeling rushed. It was such a simple thing but made a big difference in getting a variety of photos in a short window of time.
One of the coolest parts of the day was getting to go up in the hot air balloon. It was quiet and intimate, this moment just for the couple. I think some of my favorite candid shots came from those few minutes. Not every wedding has a hot air balloon moment, but Conner Prairie’s famous balloon experience makes for a standout visual and a memory the couple will never forget.
The rest of the day felt like what every wedding should feel like: full of joy and real connection. Guests laughed, danced, shared stories, and it all translated beautifully in images. As an Indianapolis wedding photographer who works all around Fishers and central Indiana, days like this are the ones I’m always grateful to be a part of.
