We started this engagement session at Potter's Bridge in Noblesville and finished just a few minutes away at Koteewi Park in Strawtown. The couple was so sweet and easy to work with. They laughed a lot, held hands like they didn’t want to let go, and made it really easy to capture how in love they are.
It was a windy day. Really windy. Most people would complain, but I love wind. Movement changes everything in photos. Hair blows, clothing shifts, little details start to feel alive. A stiff pose looks natural when the wind hits it just right. Movement lets people loosen up, it adds energy, it makes images feel spontaneous instead of posed.
We moved to Koteewi Park in Strawtown next. The park is quiet, wide open, and just a few minutes from the bridge, which makes it easy to get variety without spending a lot of time in the car. The wind continued to play its part and help bring the images to life.
I like sessions where I can let people move and interact. Some photographers focus on poses and stillness, and that works sometimes, but for me, movement is where the magic happens. A simple walk, a spin, even a little jump or laugh can make a session feel fun and natural instead of staged.
This couple trusted the process, and it showed. By the end of the session, they weren’t thinking about the camera. They were just them, and that’s exactly what I want in engagement photography. The images reflect their personalities, their love, and a little bit of the unpredictable energy of a windy day in central Indiana.
Potter's Bridge, Koteewi Park, wind, movement, laughter...it all comes together to tell a story. That’s what engagement photography should be. Real, playful, a little messy, and completely theirs.
