This engagement session took place at Southeast Way Park in Indianapolis Indiana and it felt very low pressure in the best way. From the start, this couple showed up comfortable with each other and curious about the process. No stiff energy. No overthinking. Just two people willing to move around and see what happened.
We treated the session like a walk rather than a shoot. Letting moments build instead of stopping every few steps. When people are in motion, small things start to show up. A glance. A smirk. That half second where someone forgets a camera is there. That’s the stuff I’m always watching for and it came easily with these two.
Near the end of the session we came across a building tucked away that completely shifted the look of the photos. Strong lines, bold blue and red paint, and a graphic feel that felt almost editorial. It was such a contrast to the wooded setting that came before it and that’s what made it interesting. It doesn’t read like a park at all, even though we were surrounded by trees minutes earlier.
That mix is something I always love. Letting a session evolve instead of boxing it into one look. This one had range without trying too hard.
I’m really looking forward to photographing their wedding day. If this shoot was any indication, it’s going to feel natural, fun, and very true to who they are.
