I had the pleasure of shooting this sweet, reserved couple at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. They wanted a winter session and were hoping for snow, and we got it. It was cold, but that blanket of fresh snow made the whole park feel like a private little world. There’s something about snowy engagement sessions that just hits differently. The light is soft, the air feels crisp, and every step leaves a little trace of movement.


We started with a small hike around the lake, stopping at a few spots where the trees and frozen ground made natural backdrops. The couple was easy to work with, moving through the space naturally, laughing and holding each other close, letting me guide without feeling staged. You could tell they were warming up to the camera and to each other as the session went on.

We wrapped things up right on the lake. The snow made the water’s edge and frozen patches shimmer in a way that’s hard to replicate any other time of year. We were literally the only people crazy enough to be out there and it was such a blast. I love these kinds of sessions because it’s not about perfectly posed images. It’s about movement, connection, and letting the world around you help tell the story.

This session reminded me why I love shooting winter engagement sessions in Indianapolis. Snowy winter light, a couple in love, and a park as big and open as Eagle Creek. It’s the kind of combination that makes Indiana wedding photography so special.
